I was born and raised in Hohenwald, Tennessee. After much prayer, my husband and I moved to Scottsboro in 2004. I recently heard a quote by Viola Davis: "Two of the most important days in a person's life are the day you were born and the day you discover why you were born." First of all, I know that I was born to be a worshiper of Jesus Christ, displaying His goodness in all that I do. Secondly, God has given me a love for children and not only to teaching them academics, but also teaching by example, how to live a life devoted to Him.

I have been involved in teaching/children's ministry since 1983. I am a native of Huntsville and first moved to Scottsboro in 1989. I was blessed to be the full-time Children's Minister here at Living Word for eleven years prior to my marrying and moving to Chicago in 1997. I am the mother of a wonderful son named Micah. I have taught in several Christian schools and love teaching. I am currently the Children's Minister here at Living Word and am actively involved in many areas of ministry. I love children and am honored to be a part of the staff here at Scottsboro Christian Academy. My most significant accomplishment in my life has been accepting Jesus as my Savior and walking in His grace and mercy on a daily basis.

I am so blessed to have the opportunity to serve here since 2010 in the capacity of junior high and high school mathematics and science teacher. I also have the privilege of teaching some history classes including American history, American government, Economics, and Civics. Before coming to Scottsboro Christian Academy, I worked as a substitute teacher and parent advisor in the Marshall County School System. I have a wonderful husband, Rodney and a terrific son, Tyler. We attend First Baptist Church in Grant where I have been active in our children's ministry. I love working with the Spirit-filled, supportive staff and the wonderful students here at SCA. "So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine (say the Lord). Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors." Deut. 11:18-21

I was born and raised in Scottsboro, Alabama. My husband Russell and I are proud aunt and uncle to fourteen nieces and nephews ranging from 3-18. We have what he calls a "mixed marriage" in that during football season his battle cry is "War Eagle" and mine is "Roll Tide". I graduated from Scottsboro High School and went on to Northeast State Community College and then to Jacksonville University. I am presently attending the University of Alabama where I am working on my master's degree.
